The property that was originally built for 19th century author Charlotte Brontë’s physician, and in recent years has been converted into a luxury small hotel and guest house, is to be sold.
Ashmount Country Hotel, a detached Victorian property that dates back to 1870, is currently a successful 5 star country house, situated in Haworth, West Yorkshire.
Leisure property specialists Fleurets is overseeing the sale of the property’s freehold and have set an asking price of around £650,000.
Nick Thomas from Fleurets’ Leeds office had this to say: “Ashmount is a successful, luxury operation with plenty of repeat and regular custom. It also offers new owners the opportunity of continuing to run the business along established lines, or exploit the potential to increase trade by the promotion of non-resident dining trade. Furthermore, there is lapsed planning permission to add a conservatory and an additional ground floor letting bedroom.
“Management accounts show sales for the year to 30th September 2015 of £380,670 net of VAT.
There are plenty of avenues to look at with Ashmount, which is reluctantly being offered for sale due to the ill health of one of the owning partners and at asking price to encourage early interest.”
The current owners acquired Ashmount just over a decade over and have invested a lot of time and money into the property to convert it from a low key B&B to the successful small boutique hotel it is today.
Haworth itself is a popular village in the Worth valley in Yorkshire, with picturesque countryside all around, a lot of which formed the backdrop for the novels of the legendary Brontë sisters.
Currently Ashmount Country Hotel comprises of eight individually furnished en suite letting bedrooms, including three spa rooms, each with whirlpool baths and external decking areas with hot tubs. The rooms are complimented by a private flat for owners/management.
