23 Mayfield Edinburgh goes up for sale for £1.75m


23 Mayfield in Edinburgh has gone on the market with Bruce + Co and is calling for offers over £1.75m.

The 8-bedroom boutique hotel in the heart of the city, has been run by Ross Birnie and his wife for the last 7 years, who now feel the time is right to move on and pursue other ventures.

23 Mayfield has built up quite an impressive reputation under the Birnie’s ownership, going from a 3-star to a 5-star Gold rating with the Scottish Tourism Board and the AA.

The hotel also scooped a Hilden Style Award in 2014 for its striking interiors.

23 Mayfield is currently ranked in the top 10 hotels in Edinburgh on TripAdvisor and enjoys lots of repeat business from clients from all over the world. The property also benefits from having a car parking area for a total of 10 cars, and over the years has welcomed a few celebrities including Ghandi’s grandson.

Speaking to BH, owner Ross Birnie says: “We have now been running guest houses for 14 years and feel it is time to move on to a new project. We have recently purchased a couple of holiday apartments – one on the Royal Mile and the other in the New Town of Edinburgh – which have been going very well, so we just feel it is time to take life a bit easier as we now have 2 young boys.”
