Alexander Hotels has announced the acquisition of Barnett Hill Venue, a luxury 58 bedrooms hotel in Guildford.
The boutique group, owned by Peter and Deborah Hinchcliffe, purchased the property in mid-September and will now roll out a full renovation programme to update all the bedrooms and public areas.
Originally owned and managed as a conference facility, Barnett Hill is an inspired Queen Anne style property located in the Surrey Hills, and was once a hospital used by the Red Cross and St John War organisation to aid the recovery of war veterans.
Home to 19 conference suites and 58 bedrooms, including two private garden lodges, the venue will remain fully functional while the refurbishment takes place and general manager Tim Hall will continue in his role as general manager, while director of operations Ian Heath will oversee the hotel’s transformation.
Barnett Hill joins the Alexander Hotels portfolio alongside the group’s three other hotels; the five-star Alexander House Hotel, four-red star Langshott Manor and four-star Rowhill Grange Hotel.
Owners, Peter and Deborah Hinchcliffe said: “We have recently celebrated 21years of Alexander Hotels and our passion for our properties and the industry continues to grow. Our three current hotels have achieved tremendous success and the time is now right for us to embark on a new adventure; somewhere we can continue to make our mark and add to our Alexander Hotels family. The moment we first saw Barnett Hill, we knew this property would work for us, it showcases considerable potential to be an award winning, iconic hotel in Surrey and the UK and we are truly delighted to start a new journey with this property.”
