Alistair Sandall has joined the Institute of Hospitality’s executive team as head of professional development.
He joins from the AA, where he was a senior manager and inspector.
In his new role he will be responsible for promoting the Institute’s suite of qualifications and CPD (Continuous Professional Development) products and services.
The Institute has wide-reaching relationships with colleges and training centres that use its qualifications, businesses that use its resources within their management programmes, and universities and students that belong to its Education Membership Scheme.
Sandall joins the Institute ahead of the launch of a new online training platform, and just as a new range of Institute-authored training modules are in development.
Speaking about his new role he says: “There are real challenges that the industry faces as the new standards-based apprenticeships roll out, the Apprentice Levy bites and we come to terms with Brexit. The Institute’s role in meeting these challenges is to provide thought leadership and compelling professional development solutions. Improving productivity and reducing staff turnover are key differentiators between success and failure. These are both best achieved through human capital development initiatives. I’m excited to take this role at such an exciting time for our industry.”
