Oddfellows Chester has welcomed Grace Jordan on board as the design-led boutique hotel’s new events manager.
Jordan’s new role will see her focus on growing and maintaining the strong events programme held at the award-winning hotel.
Already in her first month she has introduced a new 50’s influenced afternoon tea to the menu, as a tribute to the Queen’s anniversary, to come live at Oddfellows this week.
She said: “Afternoon teas are huge. Some brides are even favouring them over a traditional breakfast – as a more informal way of bridging the gap between the ceremony and an evening party. I wanted to create an Afternoon Tea that showed off the personality of Oddfellows and create that ‘vintage’ feel that some of our guests love so alongside our head chef, I came up with ‘A Right Royal Teas Up’.”
Jordan originally trained as a hairdresser with Vidal Sassoon and began working in the hotel industry as a part time receptionist at Chester’s Abode Hotel.
She there discovered her passion for hospitality and moved to become host of Michael Caines fine dining restaurant.
After further hotel experience in an independent hotel, she become The Chester Grosvenor’s food and beverage co-ordinator and then events co-ordinator.
Jordan said: “When I saw the position of events manager had become available at Oddfellows, I jumped at the chance. I love the way Oddfellows manages events, having been to a fair few parties and weddings here! There is a sense of occasion and the events always have individuality and flair. The team is young and dynamic and this shines through in service.
She added: “I’m so excited about managing my own department. I have a strong organisational streak in my personality and enjoy the attention to detail this sort of role needs.’
