A boutique hotel in Cornwall has appointed a new manager, promoting from within and giving its current assistant manager a step up.
The Old Quay House Hotel in Fowey has promoted Martin Nicholas to the role of general manager, after he spent the last eight years proving his worth as assistant manager.
Martin, who grew up in Cornwall, has worked at some of the UK’s top four-star hotels including Savill Court in Windsor, Ettingham Park Hotel in Stratford-Upon-Avon and Landhydrock Golf Club in north Cornwall.
Since taking on his role as GM, he has already made significant changes, introducing a new ‘fizz and chips’ summer deal, and organising a special package with an international theatre company.
Speaking to Western Morning News, Martin said: “I’m delighted to have taken on this new role here at The Old Quay House. Fowey is such a beautiful place to work and I really enjoy meeting and helping our guests.
“I feel like that’s something that really sets us apart at The Old Quay House – we provide a friendly and genuine level of service and many of our guests return year after year.”
