Backwell House gains five-star status and 2 AA Rosettes just six months after its debut

Boutique B&B Backwell House near Bristol has been awarded five Gold stars and 2 AA Rosettes just six months after the business first opened its doors.

The nine-bedroom country house hotel is owned by the Hobbs family and run by Guy Williams.

Backwell House is also home to a 40-cover restaurant headed up by chef Ross Hunter and first launched to the market in April 2017, following an extensive renovation process.

Each of the bedrooms have been individually designed with a mix of upcycled furniture, vintage finds and modern little luxuries.

Downstairs there is a lounge overlooking the lawn, the dining room, conservatory, where afternoon tea is served, plus a kitchen garden and stylish bar.

From July 31, the restaurant opened seven days a week, serving a daily-changing menu of vibrant modern dishes.

Guy Williams comments: “We are absolutely thrilled to be recognized by the AA. From initial conception, to this incredible accolade, Backwell House has been a dream project into which I’ve poured my heart and soul. I couldn’t be more proud of the entire team who contribute daily to its success. Particularly, I am delighted for Ross, who is a brilliant chef, with boundless energy and talent. I think this is just the beginning.”
