BLOC hotels has revealed plans to open up a group of apart-rooms, in a bid to target the long stay business or leisure traveller.
The boutique value brand is adding 30 new apart-rooms to its BLOC Birmingham establishment, and each room will come complete with a kitchenette, dining and lounge areas and a work desk. The new extension will also be home to a communal courtyard and glass walkways from the existing hotel.
The BLOC brand was launched in 2011 with the opening of its Birmingham branch, before expanding with a 245-bedroom hotel at London Gatwick’s South Terminal in 2013.
Managing director, Rob Morgan explained that the new offering will cater for the business or leisure guest wishing to stay for a longer period of time, optimising the use of space within the bedrooms to feature longer-stay facilities.
Rob also mentioned that there are no plans to roll out the apart-rooms model at the Gatwick hotel, although the new model will be “integral to BLOC’s future city centre builds.”
Rob concluded: “Once again BLOC is proud to announce an innovative first in its approach to the hospitality industry, which is born in Birmingham. We are excited to combine short-stay accommodation with longer-term usage serviced apart-rooms branded ‘Apartment BLOC’.”
