Plans for a new boutique hotel and restaurant in an old bakery in Bermondsey Street are being put forward by developers.
The company Frontier Estates has submitted a proposal to build a hotel on the site of the former Ticino Bakery in London, which would see a new four-storey property constructed, home to a ‘design-led’ restaurant and boutique hotel.
The developers are working with local architects Hall McKnight to prepare the official proposal, which they say will ‘add to the vitality of Bermondsey Street’.
The former Ticino Bakery building went up for sale last year with an asking price of £4.5m.
It was a fixture in the area for more than three decades and has been credited with introducing unknown Italian breads such as ciabatta to London shops and restaurants.
