Anita Bower, director of human resources at Chewton Glen said: “Lucy’s place in the Squad UK is a tremendous personal achievement and we are delighted and thrilled for her; she has shown exemplary skills and real dedication to her professional training. We have watched her career develop from starting at Chewton Glen as casual member of the team in 2011 working two evenings a week in our staff restaurant, whilst studying for her Diploma in Hospitality Supervision at Brockenhurst College in the New Forest. She was promoted in May 2012 to weekend Commis Waitress in our main Vetiver restaurant and then appointed as Head Waitress in December 2013.”

Minister for skills and enterprise Matthew Hancock said: “The WorldSkills Competition is an opportunity for the UK to showcase and celebrate our young apprentices on the global stage. It goes to show, that for every skill and every vocational area, we can and should celebrate excellence.”
