Chicago’s boutique hotel scene is set for a shake up next year, with the arrival of two hotly anticipated new establishments in the city.

For the last three years, Ian Schrager’s Public Hotel has claimed the crown of king of Chicago’s boutiques, but 2015 will see new offerings from Richard Branson and Ace Hotel enter the ring.

Richard Branson’s Virgin Hotel, the long awaited extension from the Virgin empire, will open in January 2015 with features such as smartphone-controlled thermostats, well-designed beds and room layouts that promise to suit the modern traveller.

The next big property set to cause a stir is Ace Chicago, a follow on from other successful openings from the brand around the world, including London. Typically catering to a younger, more social audience, the Ace brand has carved a very distinct in the markets it currently frequents.

The new branch in Chicago will be well-positioned to serve the downtown audience and the growing community around the new Google offices moving into the area.

While no firm opening date has been announced, it is expected to launch later in 2015.
