The hotel was sold to London & Regional Properties Limited (L&R) who intend to operate the property as part of their exclusive hotel group.

The private investment company boasts a £9bn portfolio and alongside Chewton Glen and Cliveden, owns London Hilton Park Lane and The Strand Palace, among others.

Will Duffey, executive vice president JLL Hotels & Hospitality Group (JLL H&H) commented: “The Lygon Arms Hotel has a rich history and strong reputation dating back to when it was part of the Savoy Group, making it a truly irreplaceable piece of real estate.”

Adam Wilson, vice president JLL H&H added: “Despite the hotel’s rich pedigree, years of underinvestment had resulted in declining reputation and operating performance, a trend which the new owners will look to reverse with capital expenditure and strong management. Upon completion of the refurbishment, the property will sit alongside iconic hotels such as Chewton Glen and Cliveden House, allowing it to compete directly with England’s best luxury countryside hotels.”
