A business director in Boston, Lincolnshire, has unveiled plans to create a 33-bedroom hotel above a shopping centre to help fill the gap for visitor accommodation in the town.

Alistair Arundell, a director of Smart Move Ltd, is pledging to invest £250k into transforming the three floors above the Waterfall Plaza in the town centre into a new hotel to help address the demand for rooms.

The floors are currently empty flats and if given the go ahead, Arundell believes he could have the hotel business up and running within six months.

The investment would also see a conference hall become available for hotel residents, and a front reception counter created on the ground floor.

The Waterfall Plaza, home to a large number of independent businesses, is also due to undergo a revamp, with its exterior given a refresh.

The hotel proposal has now been submitted to Boston Borough Council and will go before a planning committee at the later date.
