The thatched pub with 12 bedrooms will be given a ‘sympathetic’ renovation with the aim to create another ‘iconic’ Butcombe pub.

The acquisition of The Castle Inn marked the fifth takeover for the Liberation Group this year, after the company acquired four pubs in the West Country for £4.3m.

The number of pubs in the Butcombe estate currently totals 35.

The company recently reopened The Methuen Arms in West Wiltshire following an extensive refurbishment after acquiring the property in November 2016.
