‘By-the-hour’ booking platform launches to UK hotels

A new hotel booking platform, where travellers can hire hotel rooms by the hour, is preparing to launch to the UK market.

ByHours.com is the first booking platform and mobile app that is based around micro-stays and pay-per-use bookings, offering travellers the option of renting a hotel room for a time period of 3,6 or 12 hours.

The app also provides users with the option of being able to select their own check-in and check-out times.

Targeting the business traveller predominately, many of the hotels already featured on the app are situated near to airports, train stations and city centres. Following a successful rollout in Spain since its launch in 2012 – more than 150,000 bookings were made in 2014 through over 1500 hotels – the service will now launch in the UK and has already recruited several central London hotels.

Christian Rodriguez, CEO and founder of ByHours.com stated "London is the first on our list for expansion because the UK travel sector is mature, the business model will work well between customers and hoteliers alike. It’s also a key destination for business travellers who are our core market.

Mr Rodriguez continued “Our target is strictly business, and our goal is to improve customer’s whole travel experience, in addition to strengthening the local leisure economies. Customers can see in the hotels of the city as an attractive proposition from where to enjoy their free time or to just enjoy some down time or a shower before a big business meeting.”

Currently, ByHours.com works in London with H10 Waterloo, The Kingsway Hall Hotel, Yotel Gatwick and Yotel Heathrow, Ramada Hotel & Suites, or the Academy Hotel. Plans are in place to have up to 25 hotels available by April 2015.
