The independently-owned Cedars Hotel in Stowmarket has been acquired by Cameron Ventures Group.

The takeover marks the fourth purchase for the expanding Suffolk-based portfolio, which is run by husband and wife team Brian and Kelly Keane.

The acquisition of the Cedars Hotel brings the total number of rooms within the group to nearly 200, employing over 160 staff.

The 25-bedroom hotel is currently run by Tony and Jill Carter and Clive Barley, with Tony now remaining with the business as general manager.

Commenting on the acquisition, Brian said: “I’m delighted that Cameron Ventures has had the opportunity to buy the Cedars. It has huge potential and sits in a great location. I welcome the staff of the Cedars into the Cameron Ventures Group family. Our plan is to invest in the business, particularly to grow the corporate facilities, and to capitalise on the vibrant Stowmarket economy. Our group strategy involves further growth and we’ll be looking to add another hotel to our portfolio in 2018.”

Headquartered in Mildenhall, Cameron Ventures Group was formed by Brian and Kelly Keane in 2012, when they opened their first hotel, the Best Western Brome Grange Hotel near Diss.

In Suffolk, Cameron also owns the Best Western Priory Hotel in Bury St Edmunds and last year bought the Ipswich Hotel in Copdock, successfully obtaining Best Western membership earlier in 2017.
