Cardiff’s five-star hotel appoints new general manager ahead of bar and restaurant relaunch

St David’s Hotel, the five-star hotel in Cardiff, has announced the appointment of a new general manager, ahead of the launch of its newly-refurbished bar and restaurant.

The property has welcomed Russell Durnell to the role of GM, with more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, working at establishments such as The Savoy, Jumeriah Group and The Langham.

He joins as the hotel is in the midst of a refurbishment, as its waterfront restaurant and bar is being reworked and will unveil its new look and dining concept in the coming weeks.

Speaking following his appointment, Russell commented: “I’m thrilled to have joined The St. David’s team and am looking forward to bringing my experience from Australia and around the world in as we move forward with exciting new plans and ideas for the hotel!”

“Cardiff is growing at great pace at the moment, and we will be bringing in innovative experiences to make sure the hotel continues to lead the hotel market and evolves side-by-side with the city.”

St David’s Hotel is part of the Principal Hotel Company and also boasts a marine spa. The hotel was recently presented with a 2017 Gold Award by Visit Wales.
