Careys Manor welcomes new general manager


Brockenhurst boutique, Careys Manor has announced the appointment of new general manager Mark Yates, who joins the team with a wealth of experience from some of the country’s top hotels.

Yates has a strong background in four and five AA red-star hotels and Michelin star restaurants, including working as general manager at Gravetye Manor Hotel in Sussex, a stint at Ashdown Park Hotel and part of the management team at Atlantic Hotel in Jersey.

Most recently he has spent the last six months as general manager of the Isle of Eriska Hotel Spa and Golf Club Relais and Chateaux property on the west coast of Scotland.

Yates’ first taste of hospitality was being part of the Relais and Chateaux management scheme, which took place in England and France at top country house hotels including Bath Priory and Hambleton Hall.

“We are delighted that Mark has decided to join Careys Manor at this important time in its development,” said James Hiley-Jones, operations director for Greenclose Hotels. “The hotel is currently undergoing significant refurbishment and last year opened a landmark new restaurant, Cambium, which has recently been awarded a fantastic 3 AA rosettes. Mark’s appointment will ensure that we continue to drive the highest standards within the property, and further enhance our strong customer service ethos.”
