Bournemouth’s Chocolate Boutique Hotel will feature in the next series of Channel Four’s popular TV show Three in a Bed.
In the series, B&B owners throw open their doors and take turns to stay with one another, paying what they consider fair for their stay.
And in a programme to be broadcast later this year, Chocolate Boutique Hotel owners Gerry and Roo Wilton vie for their hotel to be crowned the best Bed and Breakfast by their fellow contenders.
“Taking part in Three in a Bed was a lot of fun” says chocolatier Gerry Wilton, who set up the unique family-run chocolate themed hotel with wife Roo back in 2007.
In the show to be broadcast later this year, Gerry and Roo go head to head with a B&B in Somerset that runs archangel classes and a small B&B in Shropshire with just three rooms. At the end of the week, one will be crowned best value for money.
“Taking part was exhausting as they filmed every day from 8am to 11pm but we had great fun and did activities that we probably would never normally have tried,” says Gerry.
“Once the programme has aired hopefully we’ll get a boom in business, a role in a blockbuster film, fame, fortune and be on the Jonathon Ross show!” he joked.
Last year, the Chocolate Boutique Hotel was declared one of the top six most scrumptious attractions for chocoholics in the world by Fox News.
It was also named one of the best ‘girliest hotel getaways’ on the planet by CNN Travel. In a round-up of seven ‘quintessential girls’ getaways’, the travel website described the hotel and its chocolate shoe making workshops as ‘double whammy heaven’.
The hotel was also described by the Sunday Times Travel magazine as one of the top novelty hotels worldwide. In a “Six of the Best” feature, the magazine listed it as the best hotel for chocoholics, describing it as ‘a temple to sybaritic cravings where you can let your inner Willy Wonka run wild’.
