It’s been announced that Chris Staines, executive chef at the Abbey Hotel in Bath is to leave his role for pastures new.

The chef, who joined the hotel in 2012, will depart this month following five years working at the hotel’s Allium restaurant to great acclaim.

Abbey Bath is owned by Ian and Christa Taylor, who recently opened their third property No.15 Great Pulteney Street and subsequently launched a new group of hotels, The Kaleidoscope Collection.

Since Staines joined the business from Heckfield Place in Hampshire, which is yet to open and has encountered a number of setbacks since it was bought almost five years ago, he has transformed the hotel’s complete food offering, bringing in a new customer base and raising the bar for F&B at the property.

In a statement, the Abbey Hotel said: Ian & Christa Taylor, owners of Abbey Hotel, wish Chris continued success as he embarks on a new stage in his career and look forward to the next chapter for the restaurant in 2017.

Chris’ successor will be announced in the New Year.
