CitizenM boss slates boozy guests at Glasgow hotel

The founder of the CitizenM brand has described the group’s entry into Glasgow as "a mistake" due to the drunken antics of some of its guests.

Speaking to Inc magazine, Rattan Chadha said: “Every evening we have had someone falling down the stairs. Glasgow was a mistake”.

He said that the198-room CitizenM Glasgow was frequented by guests from England and other parts of Scotland "who like to drink".

"It’s the No1 hotel in Glasgow but it doesn’t attract our target customers," he said. 

"When the bars close, they bring the party back to the hotel. That’s not what we intended."

However, a CitizenM spokesperson said his comments had been taken out of context.

“It was one of the best decisions ever to go there," the spokeswoman said.
