A CitizenM hotel is expected to be the first component of the Shoreditch Village retail, restaurant and business complex to open early next year.

The boutique hotel group will build a 10-storey 211-room hotel designed by Ellis Miller in a derelict Brownfield site bordered by King John Street, Holywell Lane, New Inn Yard, according to a report on Hackney Gazette

The entire Brownfield site will be transformed into a 150,000 sq ft complex, featuring a market, restaurants, homes and offices under the Shoreditch Village plans approved in August.

Citizem M Shoreditch will be the sixth hotel to open in the area in a short period of time, following in the footsteps of  boutique hotels such as Ace Hotel, Qbic and The Hoxton Hotel.

It is one of three CitizenM hotels slated to open in London between 2014 and 2015 – among CitizenM St Paul’s and CitizenM Tower of London – since the group debuted in the capital with Citizen M London Bankside in 2012.
