The Windmill pub in Clapham has been redesigned as a stylish boutique hotel, adding a further 13 bedrooms in a bid to shake up the traditional ‘pub with rooms’ concept.

Owned by London premium pub company Young & Co, the brewery joined forces with designers Harrison to revamp the property and build 42 stylish, eclectic bedrooms.

The Windmill is located on Clapham Common and was originally home to 29 bedrooms. Harrison spearheaded the complete refurbishment of the existing rooms, as well as the design of the 13 additional rooms, including the conversion of staff quarters and an extension.

The renovation was carried out over a phased six month period and the pub continued to trade throughout.

“The Windmill is not just about having somewhere to put your head down in London, it’s about creating an adult ‘home comforts’ experience, flowing from the food served in the bar and restaurant areas right through to the individual designs in each bedroom,” said Harrison creative director, Kevin Grima, who headed up the project.
