Cornish boutique hotel, The Old Quay House has welcomed a new head chef to the team, who is impressing guests after just one month in the role.
Richard Massey has recently moved to Cornwall from Scotland, where he was head chef at Ullnish Country Lodge on Isle of Skype for three years.
He began his career in the kitchen at the age of 16 and has worked in the restaurant industry ever since
Massey said: “I am looking forward to making my mark at The Old Quay House. I was keen to move down to the South West to be closer to family, and was also ready to take on a new challenge.
“My style of cooking is modern British: I like to take classic dishes and ingredients and give them a modern influence.”
Massey is now planning to simplify the lunch offering for the summer season at The Old Quay House and introduce an evening tasting menu later in the year.
Martin Nicholas, regional manager for Providence Hospitality said: “We are delighted to welcome Richard to the hotel as head chef, and have been receiving great feedback since he joined us last month.
“He brings experience and ideas to the role and we are looking forward to working with him to develop our restaurant here at The Old Quay House.”
The Old Quay House in Fowey has updated its restaurant and bedrooms over the winter period, introducing new furniture and injecting new colour palettes with the help of local interior designer Kieron Cockley.
The property officially opened in 2003 following a full refurbishment.
