Cotswolds boutique joins Calcot Hotels' portfolio

The Cotswolds88 hotel in Painswick has become the latest boutique to join Calcot Hotels and will now be completely refurbished before reopening ahead of Christmas 2015.

The 17-bedroom hotel is the newest addition to the Gloucestershire-based group’s portfolio, joining sister properties Gloucestershire’s Calcot Manor, Barnsley House and The Village Pub and Northumberland’s Lord Crewe Arms at Blanchland.

Previous owners, Phil and Val Harris were looking to sell the 17-bedroom hotel before their retirement when their specialist property agent Christie + Co approached Calcot Hotels as a potential buyer.

The hotel consists of 17 bedrooms and suites, a 34-cover restaurant, a private dining / meeting room and a beauty treatment room. The Cotswolds88 hotel can also host wedding ceremonies and receptions for up to 60 guests within the late Palladian house.

The hotel will now be completely refurbished and renamed Cotswolds 88, before being relaunched in the winter just before Christmas.

“We are extremely excited to be the new owners of The Cotswolds88 and to be welcoming it as a notable addition to our collection of hotels,” comments Calcot Hotels’ executive chairman, Richard Ball. “The Cotswolds88 will fit superbly alongside sister Calcot Hotels, particularly those in Gloucestershire: Calcot Manor, Barnsley House and The Village Pub.

“We see The Cotswolds88 developing as a restaurant with rooms, embodying its current arty-ness while tapping in further to the artisan flavour for which Painswick and the surrounding area of Stroud is becoming increasingly known. Think Covent Garden shaking hands with the Cotswolds!’ adds Ball.
