A new managing director has now been confirmed to take the helm of Cumbria Tourism.
Tom Newbould will take up the role in July, and will replace Ian Stephens who stepped down in October 2016 after 11 years.
Newbould’s recent career has been in senior roles in the consumer finance sector, as well as roles at not-for-profit education and training group, NCG and Attends Healthcare Group, plus positions at the BBC and PwC.
He will now take charge at Cumbria Tourism, the official destination marketing organisation for the county’s £2.72bn tourism industry, at a time of significant change for the association.
Newbould says: “Working together with tourism businesses, partners and the entire team at Cumbria Tourism, I’m looking forward to helping this truly world-class destination lead the way on the national and international stage, and derive maximum benefit from some of the exciting new opportunities for the county.”
Chairman of Cumbria Tourism, Eric Robson, says, “This is a new era for Cumbria Tourism, as the organisation continues to support and build our thriving visitor economy. Tom is an experienced, commercially-minded marketing professional with a genuine passion and enthusiasm for the county, and I have no doubt he will be a tremendous asset to the organisation and Cumbria as a whole.”
