Cumbrian castle launches UK’s first all-British bar

Augill Castle in Cumbria has launched The Great British Bar, the only one of its kind in the UK.

The 15-bedroom castle’s new bar is set in the hotel’s eclectic conservatory and will serve exclusively British beverages.

Guests will be able to order from a selection of gin, vodka, whisky, liqueur, brandy, beer, cider and rum that have all been created by artisan, independent, family-owned businesses in the UK.

Every element has been brewed, distilled or fermented in England, Wales, Scotland or Ireland – from its juices, mixers and soft drinks.

Augill’s Great British Bar is the first of its kind in the UK. There are other hotels, restaurants and bars that stock a good representation of British drinks, but none that are exclusively British.

The Great British Bar is enabling Augill Castle to celebrate the boom in quality artisan production and highlights the venue’s support of the British drinks industry.

Award-winning brands including Sipsmith, Adnams and Chase are featured heavily on the menu along with Bedrock, The Lakes Distillery, Langtons, Standing Stones and Kin, which are all made in Cumbria.
