Dave and Charlotte Reilly, owners, Yorebridge House

In 2003, former Bang and Olufsen salesman and interior designer Dave and Charlotte Reilly started out on a journey to find their ‘dream hotel’. After travelling the world extensively researching some of the most beautiful locations across the globe, they settled on a place in Wensleydale, a stone’s throw from where they called home in North Yorkshire.

That was 2005 and a chance browse on Rightmove at properties for sale saw them decide to take the plunge on the ‘idyllic’ former headmaster’s house and old grammar school. Over the next 18 months they embarked on an epic renovation programme to convert the building into a restaurant with rooms before opening their beloved Yorebridge House to the public.

Fast forward more than a decade and the hotel is now a five-star highly commended restaurant with rooms, and boasts the only 3 AA Rosette restaurant with an AA UK Breatfast Award in the Dales.

Yorebridge House quickly found favour with both consumers and the industry, winning multiple awards regionally and nationally, as well being shortlisted in the prestigious Independent Hotel Show awards. No mean feat for a couple who were completely new to hospitality when they started out.

This year, the good news for Yorebridge House keeps coming, as it was announced earlier this year that the hotel was to join Pride of Britain Hotels, the UK’s leading consortium of luxury hotels, where the property will rub shoulders with the likes of Dormy House, Glenapp Castle and Lucknam Park Hotel.

“We continually strive to offer superb hospitality, with a seasonal menu, locally sourced,” says Dave.
