Dean Court Hotel, a four-star Best Western Plus property, has appointed John Malia as its new head chef for its award-winning restaurant.
The hotel, located in York city centre, is home to the two AA Rosette Duncombe Place restaurant, and although the eatery already serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea, Malia now has big plans to transform the food offering in a bid to create the ‘ideal dining destination’ for people in Yorkshire.
With more than 27 years experience working in the kitchen, Malia has worked for several top restaurants across Yorkshire and the rest of the UK, including the bar chain Provenance Inns and The Royal York Hotel.
He will now lead the kitchen team to manage and run each service from DCH Restaurant, delivering the best possible dishes and experience for all its guests.
John explains: “I want to create a restaurant that the locals love to visit, whether it’s for a quick lunch, a mid-week dinner or a leisurely Sunday lunch. Our restaurant truly has the best views in York so it’s time to share this with the city and really showcase what we can do. People want a more relaxed dining experience these days, it’s about a great food, great company and creating a really unique experience, that keeps diners coming back time and time again.”
