An Irish property developer has lost a long-running legal battle with Sir David and Sir Frederick Barclay over the ownership of three of London’s top hotels.
Patrick McKillen was refused leave to appeal an earlier judgement concerning the ownership of the Maybourne hotel group in the Court of Appeal by the Supreme Court, according to a report in The Telegraph.
He was ordered to pay Barclays’ costs, with no further legal options to challenge their interests in the group, which owns Claridge’s, the Connaught and the Berkeley.
The Court of Appeal and the High Court had previously ruled that Sir David and Sir Frederick, owners of Telegraph Media Group, had not breached any of McKillen’s pre-emption rights when they built a stake in a company, which was the parent of the Maybourne group.
The judge found that the two businessmen had acted lawfully and properly .
