Dirty linen is the number one irritation for guests staying at hotels, with seven in 10 stating that it annoys them the most, according to the results of a new survey from Miele Professional.
An unclean bathroom is considered to be the second most infuriating thing, with 65% of those surveyed not impressed by a grubby toilet.
Soft and fluffy towels are also of high importance to consumers, with four in five customers saying that they notice the quality of the towels they are provided with in hotels. Furthermore, 40% said that the quality of the linen actually affects their booking decision.
Also cited in the survey was unfriendly staff, poor facilities on offer and noisy guests.
Les Marshall, sales & marketing director at Miele Professional comments: “There is clearly a need for hotels to provide pristine laundry for their customers; after all, over 40% of the British population have said that the quality of linen actually affects their choice of hotel. Increasingly, hotels should look into the benefits of an on-premise laundry – having laundry facilities on site means that any hotel manager can be safe in the knowledge that their laundry is clean, that it will be ready on time and that it will be cleaned to their customer’s desired standards.”
