Donald Trump does €15m deal for Doonbeg golf resort

American billionaire Donald Trump has bought Doonbeg Golf Club in County Clare in the Republic of Ireland for a reported €15m.

On Tuesday, Trump’s organisation announced it had purchased the golf resort which opened in 2006 but went into receivership in January.

The resort, including a hotel with 218 suites, a spa and several restaurants, will be rebranded as Trump International Golf Links, Ireland.

Commenting on the sale of the Doonbeg Golf Club, joint receivers Luke Charleton and David Hughes from audit firm Ernst & Young said there had been interest from both domestic and international investors.

"It is particularly pleasing to have sold this prestigious property to The Trump Organization who have the vision and resources to take what is an internationally renowned tourism resort to its next stage." Charleton said.
