Dukes London has been announced as the winner of Sky’s exclusive photography competition in partnership with Boutique Hotelier.
As part of the hotel’s prize, a selection of photography from the Sky Arts TV series, ‘Master of Photography’ will be displayed in the hotel until 27 November.
In recognition of the growing trend for hotels to incorporate distinctive art into their premises, Sky and Boutique Hotelier partnered to offer hoteliers the opportunity to showcase work from the Master of Photography TV show at their hotel, giving their guests the chance to get up close to the extraordinary work of these brilliant photographers.
Hoteliers across the UK and Ireland had the opportunity to enter the prize draw by completing an online entry form with Sky choosing the winner at random.
Debrah Dhugga, managing director, Dukes collection said: “I was delighted to be the winner of this exciting partnership with Sky and Boutique Hotelier. Dukes London being such an iconic hotel I feel we’re the perfect canvas for this photograph series to be displayed in our beautiful drawing room and we are sure these will pique the interests of our guests as well as the public.”
Sky Arts launched the first ever televised talent contest for photography in July with the series hosted by Emmy and Golden Globe Award-nominated actress Isabella Rossellini. Over eight weeks, 12 contestants – made up of both amateur and professionals from different photographic disciplines – travelled to locations across Europe and tackled a series of challenges testing their ability, skill and instinct across a range of styles. Season One’s winner was Gabriele Micalizzi, a professional photojournalist for over 10 years who was rewarded with €150,000. The core of Micalizzi’s work focuses on portraying social and political issues and he is passionate about capturing the feelings of people who are out of the spotlight of mainstream media.
Damian Saunders, strategy and commercial director at Sky Business said: “We are thrilled to announce Dukes London as the winner of this very special prize. The history and sophistication associated with Dukes is the perfect setting to host these fantastic works of photography.
“At Sky we are committed to helping hotels enhance their guests’ experiences in new and innovative ways and this photography exhibition gives DUKES London the chance to add something special to the ambience of its hotel.”
Master of Photography was created by the Sky Arts Production Hub, a commissioning and production centre of excellence dedicated to creating quality arts programmes for Sky’s 21 million customers across the UK and Ireland, Italy, Germany and Austria. Season two is currently in production and will air in 2017.
