A boutique hotel in Dundee is planning to install and wood-fired pizza and barbecue restaurant after refurbishing a historic stable building on the grounds.
Owner of the Taypark House Hotel, Richie Hawkins, hopes the plans, which are subject to planning permission being granted, will allow the hotel a completely unique offering in the city.
Hawkins told The Tele: “I’m desperate to reuse this derelict building and turn it into something where locals and other people visiting Dundee can come and experience a 150-year-old stable building.
“I really don’t want to turn it into residential accommodation where it would almost be lost forever. It’s got so many original features. Dundee has so much happening at the moment.”
The businessman believes that the history of the stable building should be preserved and added: “There are a lot of new things happening, but I don’t think we should forget about Dundee’s history.”
