Luxury London hotel Claridge’s has officially unveiled its 2015 Easter Egg, which is now on sale in the five-star hotel’s shop McQueens.
The art deco egg, created especially by pastry chef Ross Sneddon, has been inspired by the hotel’s checkerboard lobby, and comes wrapped in monochrome foil and put in an eau de nil box complete with satin bow. Each egg is filled with a selection of hand-made Champagne truffles.
The eggs mark the arrival of spring and are a long-standing tradition within the hotel. Each year one tonne of chocolate is consumed at Claridge’s and during peak season, the pastry chefs make between 2,500 and 3,000 truffles alone.
There are now 100 limited edition eggs on sale, all made of dark, milk and white Valrhona chocolate, with each one costing £60.
