EGL names designer for ‘transformational’ London hotel

The design studio behind the award-winning London Edition Hotel has been appointed to develop a unique ‘luxury lifestyle concept’ for the latest property from Edwardian Group London.

EGL is redeveloping a large site in Leicester Square in the heart of London’s theatreland.

Yabu Pushelberg, which has studios in New York and Toronto, will work with EGL on the project which recently received planning consent in the face of a huge opposition campaign.

Jasminder Singh, CEO of Edwardian Group said:

“My ambition has always been to build a new hotel in an iconic location.”

He called the plans for the new build, “transformational” saying that it would enable the company to “compete with the global stable of top lifestyle and business hotels with a bespoke brand.

The appointment of Yabu Pushulberg reinforces our commitment to reaching best in class for this new hotel.”

When finished, the hotel will have 360 guest rooms, a spa and pool. It will "sensitively reflect its location in Theatreland,“ he added
