Entrepreneur heads home to new hotel purchase

An experienced hotel operator who has been working abroad for a number of international chains for over 20 years, is to return to his hometown after he purchased a hotel in the area.

Andrew Whitaker has been working in South East Asia for the past two decades and now will return to Lytham St Annes where he grew up to develop Mode Hotel.

After searching for a UK property for some time, when Mode Hotel came on the market for £795,000, Whitaker was able to buy with help from NatWest.

He now plans to roll out an extension refurbishment programme at the hotel, including the addition of two new bedrooms, which will take the total to 19.

Whitaker said: "Mode Hotel is a great hotel as it is in an ideal location for visitors to the seafront. I grew up in the area so it’s great to be able to return home to develop a local business.

"I will continue to live in South East Asia as we are keeping all of the management team at the hotel in place led by Lina Kaval. Lina and her team have been managing the hotel for a number of years and bring with them experience and expertise to continue operations in a way customers have come expect over the years.”
