Generator Hostels, the fastest growing European hostel brand of the decade, has exclusively revealed that the group is on the brink of signing three new sites in the US, which would mark its debut into the American market.
The hostel brand, which has seen rapid growth since its launch in 2007, hopes to have the first of the three sites signed by the end of Q1, before securing another two over the course of the year.
Working to strong pipeline ambitions, Generator currently has nearly 5,200 beds located across six countries in Dublin, London, Copenhagen, Berlin, Hamburg, Venice and Barcelona, and 2015 alone will see the opening of Paris (February), Rome (mid 2015) and Amsterdam (late 2015).
Josh Wyatt, chief strategic officer at Generator told Boutique Hotelier: “We are just about to sign our first site in the US, which is really exciting, and hope to have another two signed in the coming months. We are looking into markets such as New York and Miami at the moment and are aiming to have the first one secured by the end of Q1, so late March.”
With strong investment behind it from Patron Capital, Generator Hostels expects to grow the portfolio to 20 properties by 2018.
The brand has made quite an impact on the hotel sector during its 7 years in operation, winning multiple awards for its innovative design and the way it has transformed the hostel model since its debut.
Keep an eye out for the February issue of Boutique Hotelier for a four-page special with Josh, where he talks expansion plans.
