The vice chairman of the Master Innholders who created of this year’s programme of speakers for the General Manager Conference in January has said he hopes hoteliers leave ‘feeling challenged’ over the topics on the agenda.
Danny Pecorelli, managing director of Exclusive Hotels and Venues, told Boutique Hotelier that he wants attendees to the conference, held on 15-16 January at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London, to come away ‘thinking about it’, having learnt new ways to operate.
“I’ve gone forget Brexit, because there is almost no point in discussing it,” Pecorelli tells Boutique Hotelier, “it’s what’s interesting at the time. I want hoteliers to learn and be challenged by it and come away thinking about it.
“It’s thinking about what’s your rule book? Because if you’ve got the same rulebook as everybody else, then you become the same. There are lots of very good five-star hotels out there but they are all the same, so how do you differentiate yourself?”
The conference this year marks its 25th anniversary and is entitled ‘The Spirit of the Time’ to encapsulate exactly how the industry feels as we look ahead to the next 12 months in business.
Cyber security, the evolution of food, brand creations, hotel design and business leadership will be topping the agenda, with some key industry figures speaking, while Rio 2016 Gold Medalist hockey player Crista Cullen MBA will share her experience of running a medal winning team and successful business.
Next year also commemorates the 40th anniversary of The Master Innholders and as always, all profits made from the conference will go into supporting the MI Scholarships, held at Lausanne, Cornell and Cranfield, for which anyone can apply.
The event is expected to sell out so to snap up the last few tickets, you’ll need to be quick. Visit www.masterinnholders.co.uk/
