The Quantum Group has said the public response to its plans to build the largest boutique hotel in Sherborne has been “extremely positive”.
Kate Greatrix, Quantum’s head of community engagement, was quoted by Somerset Live as saying: “75% of respondents agreed to our vision for the site and we are now sharing our final proposals with everybody.”
The group has plans for a 24-room boutique hotel, 82 extra care apartments and 38 extra care dwellings on the site of the now demolished Sherborne Hotel.
Sherborne Town Council voted to recommend approval for the plans in November and last week the public was given an opportunity to be heard. A final decision on the plans is expected early next year.
If the plans are given the go-ahead, the group hopes to begin the hotel-build by June to be opened for business by 2019.
Plans were published by developers earlier this year.
