Famed Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa will open his first European hotel in London, he revealed on May 14.
Nobu Hotel Shoreditch in London is currently under construction and is projected to open in the first quarter of 2016.
The property is under a long-term management agreement between Nobu Hospitality and owner Willow Corp Sarl.
Nobu Hospitality CEO Trevor Horwell said: "The Nobu Hotel Shoreditch in London is our first European hotel joining our growing portfolio collection of hotels covering select locations in the Americas, Middle East and Asia".
It is being developed by Meir Abutbul, the London-based boutique hotel developer, who described the project as "a critical and valuable chapter in the ongoing evolutionary tale of London".
"For an area conceived through, and shaped by, contemporary culture and creativity, our architectural design is the obvious gesture," Abutbul added.
The 156-room hotel at 10-50 Willow Street in East London will offer exclusive menus developed by chef Nobu.
The design will reflect the city of origin through Nobu Hospitality’s signature East-meets-West philosophy, to be materialised by Ben Adams Architects and Studio PCH.
The hotel’s five storeys are fractured into angular, concrete balconies. A landscaped garden at the site’s eastern edge will lead to a restaurant and bar space.
