Family-owned East Yorkshire childcare business expands into new hotel venture

A new room at The Peppered Pig

A restaurant in East Yorkshire has expanded its premises with six new boutique bedrooms after an extensive renovation.

The Peppered Pig in Snaith, which is owned by the Mitchell family, has redeveloped its dining space, refurbished a function room and introduced the new bedrooms.

Operating from the same site under the same family ownership is Turnbridge Day Nursery, one of the largest childcare facilities in the area.

Development across the site has enabled the nursery to integrate three separate buildings under one roof.

The refurbishment, which was supported by HSBC, is expected to create 10 new jobs and increase turnover by 50 per cent over the next financial year.

Glen Mitchell, co-owner of The Peppered Pig, said: “We provide a unique service for our customers across the region and beyond. The local community is always very supportive of our endeavours, whether that is offering a fine dining experience or childcare services. It has been really pleasing to become known as destination hotel and restaurant which attracts people to the local area.”

Neil Waterhouse, senior business manager for HSBC UK, added: “It’s fantastic to see the individuality of The Peppered Pig rewarded with growth. We have been delighted to support the Mitchell family business for a number of years now and we’re pleased they continue to develop a high quality experience for all their customers.”
