Fire crews were called to fight a fire that broke out in laundry room at Chewton Glen in the New Forest at the weekend.
Rooms at the five-star hotel were evacuated in the early hours of Sunday morning with fire crews from New Milton, Beaulieu, Lymington, Redbridge and Ringwood called to the site at 1.30am.
According to an official statement released by Chewton Glen, the fire was contained to the laundry room, with no other areas of the building affected.
Guests staying at the hotel were moved into the lounge while the fire crews dealt with the blaze and were then allowed back into their rooms by around 4am.
A Twitter message this morning from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service at 8am this morning said: ‘Chewton Glen laundry fire out’.
It’s been reported that a fire investigation team has visited the site but the cause of the fire not yet determined.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue deployed fire investigation dog Millie to the hotel to help establish the cause, who will be sniffing to see whether chemicals were involved.
A statement released by a spokesman for the hotel said: “Whilst it is too soon to comment on the source of the incident, we can confirm that no person was injured and the fire services involved praised the action and quick response of the hotel’s management team in containing the incident and guaranteeing the safely of all hotel guests and staff in the building.”
“A full report will be prepared when the fire brigade has completed its investigations and we would like to thank the local fire service for their excellent response to this incident.”
