First boutique launches in Devizes

A six-bedroom hotel has opened in Devizes, becoming the Wiltshire town’s debut boutique offering.

Owned by local estate agent turned restaurateur, Phil O’Shea and his wife Amanda, The Peppermill has been converted into a small restaurant with rooms.

The couple first opened the eatery two years ago and unveiled the six en-suite bedrooms in the upstairs of the property at the end of August.

The hotel is the first of its kind to come to Devizes, with just the bigger, more traditional hotel, The Bear and a Travelodge close by.

Speaking to The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald, owner Phil said: “I knew exactly how I wanted the rooms to look and I think we have achieved that. To me the most important thing is a really comfortable bed and showers with excellent water pressure. I already owned the downstairs and a small part of the upstairs but then I bought the rest at auction in December last year.”
