Fitzrovia Pub Company, in partnership with Epic Managers, has taken on its second Charles Wells site, a ‘best of British’ pub with rooms in Bedfordshire.
The Knife and Cleaver in Houghton Conquest has been transformed to reflect a striking blend of traditional design with contemporary touches, and with nine bedrooms and space for 110 diners.
The bedrooms, consisting of both family- and dog-friendly options, and all feature Egyptian cotton sheets, flat-screen televisions and Elemis toiletries. There is also a 16 seat private dining space.
The pub will be the second opened by Fitrzrovia Pub Company and managed by Epic Managers, led by pub operator Andrew Coath who also runs the newly opened Anchor at Aspley Guise, near Milton Keynes.
The menu will be overseen by chef director Mark Austin whose experience includes Luton Hoo Hotel, with the Knife & Cleaver’s kitchen team also led by head chef Simone Scola who has previously worked with the Hermit and Redcoats near Hitchin.
Richard Bishop, director of Tenanted and Leased Pubs at Charles Wells, said: “We’re pleased that Fitzrovia have seen another fabulous opportunity within our estate. Under the management of Andrew Coath and his Epic team, we know the new look Knife and Cleaver will be just as successful and is a further example of our commitment to invest in our leased and tenanted pubs, and support those who run them.”
