The former GM at boutique establishment Cannizaro House has been appointed managing director of Hotel Gotham, due to open in Manchester this April.

Jeff Ward left his position at the 46-bed hotel in November and will now oversee the launch of Hotel Gotham as general manager and managing director.

Cannizaro House has recently been acquired by Hotel du Vin, which will take the brand’s portfolio up to 16 hotels across the UK.
Hotel Gotham is owned by Bespoke Hotels, who have spent over a year developing the former Midland Bank headquarters in the city to become a five-star Art Deco-inspired hotel.

The 60-bed property has been designed by Edward Lutyens and will include five suites, a restaurant, a rooftop bar and club with views overlooking Manchester.

Ward has experience in both high-end chains and boutiques, with The Grand Hotel Europe in St Petersburg and Bristol Hilton International on his CV.

He said of his appointment: “I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to lead such an exciting project. I aim to utilise all my local knowledge, enthusiasm and attention to detail to ensure the King of King Street regains its crown not just in Manchester, but nationally as well.”

He has now started recruiting staff to join him at the hotel.
