Winner of Channel Four series ‘Four in a Bed’, the Cley Hall Hotel in Spalding, South Lincolnshire, has been placed on the market by current owners David Stanbridge and Andrew Robb.

Acting on behalf of the current owners, real estate advisor Colliers International is marketing the Grade II listed property at an asking price £695,000.

Occupying a prominent position on the High Street in the Lincolnshire market town of Spalding, Cley Hall Hotel overlooks the banks of the River Welland and provides 15 bedrooms, a 20-cover restaurant as well as a second restaurant, two bars and a private meeting room to seat 12. The hotel also boasts a walled garden which is regularly used as a venue for weddings and private functions.

The owners scooped the title of Best Hotel in Channel Four’s Four in a Bed at the start of April, when viewers saw Andrew and David beat off three other hotel competitors to be voted into the top spot.

The property has the added benefit of planning permission to create a dedicated 100 cover restaurant. The owners’ apartment also provides further development opportunity and could be redeveloped to create additional rooms in the loft, either as additional private accommodation or to allow the existing owners’ apartment to be converted into additional letting bedrooms.

Jonathan Wren, director of hotels Colliers International, said: “The current owners acquired Cley Hall Hotel in 2011 and during their two year ownership have spent considerable time and money updating the hotel and enhancing the reputation of the business.

“Despite David and Andrew running the hotel as a ‘lifestyle’ business, where they spend at least 12 weeks a year overseas, the hotel boasts an impressive turnover of in excess of £328k per annum. The potential afforded by the planning consent, the opportunity to convert the loft space of the owners’ accommodation, alongside the prospect of building on the hotel’s existing profile as an events venue presents as an exciting opportunity for an experienced or budding hotelier to acquire this successful lifestyle business with tremendous potential for future growth.”
