A derelict former British Gas site in Leeds is set to be transformed into a hotel, as developers have been granted planning permission for the first stage of the scheme.
The project will see the 2.45 acre complex on the east of the city centre converted into a 182-bed boutique hotel to cater for the increasing visitor numbers to Leeds.
The site is close to the new Victoria Gate shopping complex which is currently undergoing a £165m construction project.
The regeneration project is being developed by a consortium of Singapore-listed companies led by Heeton Holdings Ltd, and the company is said to be in conversations with a handful of internationally recognised hotel brands.
The site is currently being prepped with construction due to begin in 2017.
