Furnishings from Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park up for grabs as restoration project gets underway

The interior furnishings and fixtures at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park London are up for grabs to the highest bidder as they go into an auction while the property undergoes an extension restoration project.

The contents of the luxury five-star hotel in London will go under the hammer with Pro Auction as a refurbishment programme, which began on September 19, is rolled out across the building.

Taking place for three days at the end of October, the auction will host 2,500 lots from the Mandarin Oriental spanning both reproduction and antique fine furnishings and fixtures.

The building itself was officially open in 1902 as a Gentleman’s Club in the 20th century, turning itself into a luxury London hotel by the mid 20’s.

In 1996 Mandarin Oriental took over ownership and invested £57m into giving the property a makeover and restoring every bedroom, its restaurants and bar and now 16 years on, the building is undergoing another revamp.

The auction takes place over three days between the 24 – 26th October 2016 and commences at 10.00am daily.
