Independent UK handbook the Good Hotel Guide 2018: Great Britain & Ireland is celebrating its ruby anniversary with the launch of a special edition.
The guide, which was established in 1978, will unveil its 40th anniversary edition on Monday, 9 October.
The guide has 424 entries featuring hotels that provide some of the best hospitality in Great Britain and Ireland.
Co-editor Adam Raphael said: “This year’s 40th anniversary is a real milestone for the Good Hotel Guide. We are proud of the fact that there is still a place for a published hotel guide – even though the guide’s online presence is growing – with this year’s guide featuring 48 new main entries and 53 new shortlisted entries.
“Each year we highlight the UK’s most revered and wholly independent properties, from new-era B&Bs and refined gastropubs with rooms, to plush country house hotels and one-off establishments.”
The 2018 Editor’s Choice section highlights the top 10 hotels in 16 categories, including this Year’s Discoveries, Romantic, Spas, Seaside, and weddings, among others.
Just four hotels have remained in the Guide each consecutive year since it was launched in 1976. They are Ballymaloe House in County Cork; Currarevagh House in County Galway; Lastingham Grange in Yorkshire and Rothay Manor in Cumbria.
